Tarot Card Reading of the Week – October 27, 2019

The card in the past energy is the Eight of Swords reversed. No longer feeling trapped. No longer feeling blind and bound by a situation. Or a person.  This is a card you want to get reversed. And better still that this stuck/unstuck energy is energy we are leaving behind.

The present energy is Queen of Pentacles upright. She can be an earth sign female – Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn. But she doesn’t have to be. This is a person (or an energy) that is responsible and stable.  Guided by logic and reason and practicality.  She’s good with money, good with the home.  Again, if this isn’t a person in your life, it may just be an energy you are working with or that is around you.

The card in the future energy is Strength reversed.  Don’t forget about your own inner power as the week progresses.   We all find ourselves in this place from time to time in our lives. Feeling weak or defeated.  Perhaps even physically weak or ill.  We all possess an inner power within us that is far strong than we realize.  It’s okay to question your capability about or around something – just don’t stay there.

A new moon in Scorpio on October 27 should help to propel us into a new week. New moons are a wonderful time for new beginnings.  We just need to try to wrap up any loose ends because Mercury goes retrograde until November 20 or so.  That can bring communication issues, travel delays, technical and mechanical difficulties and the “return” of something. Or someone. For us to review again.

Tarot Card Reading of the Week – August 18, 2019

The card of the past energy (the energy we are leaving) is the Five of Cups upright.  The phrase “don’t cry over spilled milk” comes to mind with this card.  Three cups are knocked over, but two cups are still upright. So something has been lost, but not all.  There’s still some good there for you. So focus on that.  Don’t focus on what’s gone.

The card in the present energy is the Ten of Cups upright.  The number ten completes a suit in the traditional tarot.  The suit of cups is about relationships, love, feelings and emotions. So this card is the ultimate in happiness within family and within love and emotion. The “happily ever after” card.  A sense of peace and balance and contentment with love and within the home.

The future card is The Chariot reversed.  A major arcana card.  This can be about not moving forward, no progress. Or it’s progress without a clear direction. So the forward movement (if there is any) is chaotic and without a plan.  So there may be a block or delay to moving forward in some area of your life. It doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen. Just that right now, there’s a block or a delay around it. It could also be a Cancer person in your life who is being a little difficult. This card corresponds to the astrological sign of Cancer.

Don’t let The Chariot reversed get you nervous.  It’s rare when all the energy is positive and forward moving.  There needs to be a little challenge to keep us growing and evolving. And to keep it interesting.

Tarot Card Reading of the Week – May 5, 2019

The card in the past position is the Eight of Wands reverse. This can indicate a lack of communication or a lack of action. A lack of movement.  A good card to get in this position because it’s energy we’re leaving. If something has been feeling stagnant or like you can’t get through to somebody…it’s about to come to an end.

The card in the present position is the Knave of Pentacles – also known as the Page of Pentacles. Pages can be children under the age of 10-12 or people who act like children.  We all know people who act like children.  But they’re also messengers. And the suit of pentacles is about money and material goods. So you could be receiving some good news about money or finances.   It may come from or somehow be related to an earth sign person as well (Virgo, Capricorn or Taurus) since this suit also corresponds to the earth sign people.

The future card is the Queen of Cups upright. She’s a very emotionally stable and mature water sign woman – Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio. She doesn’t have to be a water sign person. But she’s very nurturing woman and very sensitive and kind. Gentle.  If this isn’t an actual person in your life, you could be taking on this quality yourself. Or, it could just be a general energy around you.  A little more kindness and emotional peace.  Nothing bad about that.

There’s a new moon in Taurus on May 5 – so a great time for new beginnings.  Specifically centered around what you value. Taurus is ruled by Venus and Venus here (unlike Libra, which she also rules) is is about money and luxury.   A good time to start something new within your finances or with your money.  Keep in mind that Uranus is also transiting Taurus for the next seven years. So there may be some surprises in this area of life for all of us in some way.

Tarot Card Reading of the Week – November 18, 2018

The card in the past position is the Four of Wands upright.  This can be stability within a relationship. Also, a happy homecoming. It can sometimes indicate an engagement or a wedding. A party of some sort.   If this isn’t you or this didn’t happen to you, it can be that you received news of somebody becoming engaged or you received an invitation to somebody’s wedding.

The card of the present energy is the King of Swords upright. He can be an adult air sign male – Libra, Gemini, Aquarius.  If it’s not an actual person, it’s this energy.  Effective communication.  This is a person (or an energy of) intellect and the mind and thoughts. Thinking.  He can be a lawyer or a diplomat of some sort.  Again, if this isn’t a person in your life now, or coming into your life, it’s an energy. So maybe you are becoming better at communicating your feelings or thoughts.  Or maybe you’re called upon to give a talk or lecture of some sort. And you’ll do so  beautifully.

The future card is the Nine of Pentacles upright. This is my “happy single person” card. It shows a woman dressed in a beautiful gown, surrounded by nine pentacles. Her pet bird on her shoulder. So she’s doing very well financially and she’s happy.  And, as the card depicts, she’s happy by herself. This can be finding a sense of accomplishment in your career or with money, since pentacles generally refer to money and material/tangible goods. And it can also indicate a sense of happiness by yourself. Maybe you recently broke up with somebody and are realizing how happy you are (and can be) alone, by yourself.  Or maybe you’re just in a  place of happiness being single.  It is possible.  You could have also just added to your independent little family a pet.  And this is indicating happiness with your new pet companion.

Good cards this week. They all point to a sense of happiness and contentment. Either within an engagement or marriage (or you’re happy for somebody else having achieved this in their life) and also a sense of contentment by yourself, with yourself.  Good energy to be moving into…

Tarot Card Reading of the Week – November 11, 2018

The card in the past position is the Four of Swords reversed. Not wanting to go within, not wanting to do the hard “inner work.”   Either not having the time, or just not wanting to.  It can also sometimes indicate being distracted, and it’s the distraction that’s preventing you from going within.

The card in the present position is the Queen of Swords upright.  She can be an air sign adult woman – Libra, Gemini, Aquarius. But she doesn’t have to be. This is a woman (or an energy) of being very exact with communication. Very effective with the words you use and why you choose them. This is a woman who means what she says and says what she means. She’s sometimes called the Ice Queen because she can seem a little…cold. It’s not so much that she’s cold as that she doesn’t have time for BS and having her time wasted.

The future card is the Five of Swords reversed. This can indicate a need to forget and forgive. An move on.  Something was won, at the loss of something else…and now it’s time to move on.

These are all swords cards. The suit of swords corresponds to the mind, thinking, intellect, communication. So these dynamics may be playing a role in your life the upcoming week. It could also just indicate a new way of thinking about things in some way. Today, being 11-11, t could be a portal into a new way of thinking in your life. A new beginning in terms of thought and how you conceptualize something.

Tarot Card Reading of the Week – October 28, 2018

All three cards are major arcana cards. So this could be an intense week ahead.  Intense doesn’t have to be bad or hard or difficult. It could just be that some pretty interesting or exciting or life-altering events take place.

The card in the past position (the energy we are leaving) is The Star upright.  This is the “wish fulfillment” card of the major arcana.  It represents a wish being fulfilled. Or just a feeling of being blessed. Or, actually BEING blessed. That feeling you have when things in your life and within yourself seem to flow with ease.

The card in the present position is The Magician upright.  One of my favorite cards (so is the next one after this). This is a card of manifestation. It’s a card of the power to create.  You have all the tools you need to create the thing or the event that you want.  They’re all right there in front of you. This is card of realizing that, and using them to manifest your desire into reality.  And it may just have this “magical” feeling to it.  Like when you think about wanting something or, “it’d be nice if I could find a parking space on the first floor of the parking garage instead of the seventh….” And it happens.  Get ready for some magic to come into your life – if it isn’t there already.

The future card is The High Priestess upright. She’s an oracle, a source of wisdom and knowledge. People seek her out for her guidance and insight.  So this can indicate an actual person that you go to (or who simply presents in your life…like magic, as if you manifested them) for some advice. And she (or they, it doesn’t have to be a female) lead you to the exact place and/or decision you need.  It can also be you. YOU are becoming this person.  Maybe you’ve been trying to work with your own intuition or you’ve been spending more time practicing meditation and you start to “see” (no pun intended) the results of your efforts.  Or maybe you just have an interesting experience with the other side.

This is a time of year when “the veil is thinning.” Meaning, the veil between this world and the spirit world.  The few weeks ahead of Halloween (also called Samhain). It is not uncommon for people to experience or have ghost stories or to experience these unexplainable experiences with their loved ones who have passed over. Not in a scary way. Sometimes, the experiences can be funny.  Most often, they’re just reassuring.  That card could indicate that there will be an experience with an ancestor or with a guide or angel. And maybe that’s exactly what you need to validate to yourself that your intuitive gifts are real and that you have the power to manifest them.

Good cards and they’re all upright.  An exciting week, or at the very least, maybe some interesting (good) experiences ahead.

Tarot Card Reading of the Week – October 8, 2018

The card in the past position is the Nine of Swords reversed.  All caught up in your head with worry and anxiety.  Losing sleep, in fact.  Good thing this card is in the past and it is energy we are leaving.

The card in the present position is the Page of Swords reversed. The spy/gossip card.  Pages can be children or people who act like children.  With this particular page, it could very well be an adult who is acting like a gossipy middle school child. The suit of swords also corresponds to the air signs (Libra, Gemini, Aquarius) and to the mind, communication, intellect. So there may be some gossipy energy around you now or as the week progresses.  It could be YOU that’s doing the gossiping. Or, somebody around you. And it may not have anything to do with you, but it’s energy around you. It’s like every time you go to the water cooler, that person is there and they want to tell you about so-and-so or this thing that they heard happened.  So even though it’s not you or about you, it can be negative energy all the same.  It could also be somebody spying on you.  Maybe not hiding in the bushes outside your window at night, but maybe through social media.  They’re “checking up on you” so to speak. Without you knowing or really consenting to it.  Or they may be asking others about you. Trying to get information about you through others.

The future card is the Two of Swords upright. A choice needs to be made. A decision. And whatever the two options are, you are protecting your heart. So it could be that making a choice has an emotional pull with you in some way. Or you’re afraid a specific decision will affect you emotionally. Or affect something (or somebody) near to your heart. But a decision has to be made.  It may be in relation to something the Page of Swords says. It may be completely independent of that.

Venus just went retrograde and will stay retrograde until the middle of November. It could be that the message you receive is concerning a romantic interest.  Maybe somebody from your past. Or, the choice or decision that has to be made concerns this person or this issue in some way.

The Suit of Pentacles…

The suit of the traditional tarot that corresponds to the earth element.  And to earth signs – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.  Pentacles are pentagrams with a  circle around them. And I hope all of you reading this know that the five points of a pentagram are about the elements (fire, water, air, earth) and spirit.  They are also a symbol of protection. Many sheriff deputies wear a five pointed star as their badge. And a lot of Christmas decorations in the form of a star have five points.

Pentacles are all about earthly things, possessions, materialistic goods.  Money is the first and probably most prominent that come to mind.  But also your job, career, finances, resources. And sometimes, depending on how the cards present and what the other cards are around them and where, the suit of pentacles can be about something you value as much as money.

The court cards are slow moving people.  In part because they are stable and grounded and responsible.  Just like their earth sign counterparts, they don’t do anything in haste or without thinking it through.  They are hard working and dedicated to their jobs and careers (or whatever it is that gives them money). Even the Knight of Pentacles is slow moving.  But if you think about it, when it comes to things like money or your job, slow development may be the best way to go.

Reversed, these people are irresponsible and lazy.  They can also be cheap and not very giving when it comes to money. These are the people who don’t tip anybody. Or who let whoever else they are with do the tipping.  There’s a slight undercurrent of entitlement with these people when they present reversed.  Why should they work hard when somebody else can do it?  Why should they tip when who they’re out with can tip? Why should they financially plan for the future when they can just rely on the money or the investments of their partner?  That sort of energy.

But for the most part, this suit is one of stability and responsibility.  And maturity, in a way.  The court cards upright are generally mature in their approach to their jobs or money. Or how they conduct themselves around these things.  Which is certainly reassuring and refreshing…

Tarot Card Reading of the Week – September 2, 2018

The card in the past position is the Two of Wands reversed.  Fear of the unknown. And, sometimes, consequently,  a lack of planning. Any time there is a “2” in the traditional tarot, it can indicate a choice or a decision that needs to be made. With this card there may be two things you are hoping or wanting to pursue (creative endeavors or passions) and there’s a fear of how it’s going to work out. Or IF it will work out.  Fear can sometimes paralyze us and prevent us from doing anything. So be mindful of this energy around you.  It’s leaving – this is the card in the past position.

The present card is the Page of Wands upright. Pages can be children (or people who act like children…). They are also messengers.  The suit of wands corresponds to the fire signs – Leo, Sagittarius, Aries.  So it could be a message from or about one of these people. Or it could just be a message of the beginning of something that is exciting for you.  In a way, Pages are a little like Ace cards – there’s an element of beginning with these cards. So if this isn’t the actual beginning of it, it’s news of it. Maybe you were waiting to hear about a job opening – and this is the message you receive that it’s open. Or for a house to be put on the market.  Pages are novices, Kings are the most accomplished in their particular suit. So this could also indicate you being new at something.

The future card is The Star reversed. This card is the major arcana wish fulfillment card. The Nine of Cups is the minor arcana card.  It’s reversed, so there may be a wish that isn’t fulfilled for you. Not yet granted. Or just a feeling that you aren’t blessed, or were born under an “unlucky star.”   Reversals, for the most part, indicate a blockage or a delay to things. It doesn’t mean it can’t or won’t ever happen. Just that the energy around this is blocked right now.   Sometimes, the universe (God, spirit, your angels, guides…whoever you resonate with) will block something because there’s something much better on its way.  We just can’t see it or don’t know it yet. So flow with it. Whatever is meant  for you won’t pass you by…

The Suit of Wands…

The suit of wands in the traditional tarot deck corresponds to fire energy.  This suit is aligned with the fire signs of the zodiac, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.   The wands are all about our passions and things that excite us. Not in terms of sex or romance, but our hobbies, our pastimes, things that really hold our attention.  Creative energy, and new endeavors.

Just like with fire, these cards (depending on where they present in a spread and the other cards around them of course), can indicate a desire to move and to do.  To start and to begin.  And to do it with a lot of excitement and energy.  When they present reversed (again, depending on where they present and around what other cards), they can indicate a sense of acting or moving before you think.  Being hasty.

The court cards, in particular when reversed, can indicate people with anger issues, rage issues, hot tempers. These are people that are difficult to be around, especially when they don’t get their way.  They’re demanding and ordering people around and then blowing up along the way.  They can also indicate people who don’t have any drive or motivation at all.  They wake up at noon, spend the day eating junk food, playing on their phones, playing video games, complaining that they’re gaining weight and aren’t making more money…then proceed to get angry about it. And it’s usually directed at other people.  When, in actuality, the anger should be directed at themselves.

Upright, they are focused and driven individuals. I think of a lot of professional athletes with this fire energy. They’re going after something they are excited about, that they’re good at, and that they want to excel at with a tremendous amount of determination and drive. Time, money, location….it doesn’t matter. They want it and they’re going to get it and it doesn’t matter what they have to do to achieve it.

I like fire energy because it’s about motivation. I think of squares in astrology as fire energy. They are placements of tension, but also of tremendous motivation.  When you see somebody or meet somebody in this zone of absolute focus, it can be very inspiring. And when you find yourself in that place, going after something you want, wondering why there are only 24 hours in a day instead of more for you to spend more time pursuing this craft or creative endeavor, you also know how magical this force within can be.
