Cosmic Correspondence – Winter Solstice and a Full Moon in Cancer

A lot of energy packed into a few days.  Today, December 21, 2018, is the winter solstice (in the northern hemisphere). It marks the longest night of the year and the shortest day. This season is also known as Yule, if you follow the Wheel of the Year.  The sun is now in Capricorn. Which is where Saturn is, and will stay until 2020. Saturn is at home in Capricorn.  So a grounded, responsible, stable energy.

There will also be a full moon in Cancer on December 22.  Interesting that we have the darkest night of the year followed with this bright full moon.  Cancer is a sensitive, family oriented water sign.  Not at all surprising that this full moon falls around Christmas – when a lot of people are around family.  There may be something coming to completion with this moon concerning family issues. Perhaps a dynamic within a relationship within the family.  Full moons complete a lunar cycle, so they are known as times for finishing and ending.   And, as always, they can bring with them a lot of emotion. So go easy with family and with yourself.

The nodes of the moon are also in Cancer/Capricorn. So this full moon may be felt more strongly by these two signs or by people with a lot of water and/or earth in their chart.  This also kicks off the eclipse season that literally starts at the beginning of 2019. There will be an eclipse in January in Capricorn.  So what happens right around now may highlight some of the issues that may come to the fore at the beginning of 2019.

We also have a conjunction between Jupiter and Mercury. This should be fairly positive with a focus on “living life large.”  Jupiter is currently transiting Sagittarius so travel may be highlighted. So too will be learning or study.  And there may be a tendency to talk about it. Just be careful because there may be too much talking. Where Jupiter goes, so too does expansion and excess.

Light a candle tonight to signify the light that will soon be coming into your life.  After the solstice, the days begin to get longer and brighter.

Tarot Card Reading of the Week – August 26, 2018

The past energy (or energy we are leaving) is the Eight of Swords reversed. This is a good card to get reversed because it can indicate coming out of this “blind and bound” phase.  The blindfold comes off and now you can see.  And you are able to break free of what had you bound and tied to one place.  Since this card is sometimes referred to as a mental card, and the suit of swords can correspond to the mind and thoughts and communication,  this could have all been in your head. And you’re finally breaking free of whatever thoughts had you trapped.

The present energy is the Queen of Swords reversed.  The Ice Queen, she’s sometimes called. She can be an air sign adult female (Aquarius, Libra, Gemini) – but she doesn’t have to be. This is a woman who uses her words and her mind to hurt.  Sharp words, a sharp tongue.  So get ready for some harsh words or difficult truths coming from her this week.

The future card is the Six of Swords upright. All swords cards this week.  So a lot of thinking – a lot in the mind. This card can indicate moving from something…to something better.  On a mundane level, it can indicate travel of some sort. A trip. Or moving in any other sense of the word. Moving house, changing a job, changing where you do something (if you always run a certain route, maybe you’re running a different route, as an example).  But it’s the idea of movement from where you are (maybe not so good) to something else…and it’s better.   Again, because it’s a swords card, it could just be your thinking about something. If you’ve always thought the neighborhood you live in is not the best, maybe something happens to change your mind and you realize it’s not that bad.   So it’s a “movement of thought” about something.

We just had a Pisces Full Moon and Mars is set to go direct. One door may have closed (as full moons can signify endings or a completion to something) and now with Mars direct, we’re ready to march forward into something new.  But before we can actually do that, we have to first think it and imagine it and visualize it in our minds.

Full Moon in Pisces – Illusion and Escapism

There will be a full moon in Pisces on August 26, 2018.  At its most basic, a full moon is when the sun is opposite the moon. So there is always a polarity with a full moon.  What you need versus what you want. Work versus home.  Who you really are on the inside and who you show to others on the outside.  This tension between opposing forces is what can cause us tension during or around a full moon. And this full moon is  no different – expect there to be some extra emotional burdens placed upon you when it comes to home and family life. And your relationships in general.

Full moons also involve the push and pull between the two opposing zodiac signs. Here, the opposite of emotional, sensitive, creative, sometimes a little delusional and prone to escapism Pisces is the grounded, responsible, particular and exact Virgo.   That right there just feels like tension to me.  These two on a road trip together in a car for days….I can’t imagine.

This moon forms a sextile (that’s a good aspect) with Saturn and with Uranus. Again, the push and pull between restrictive and responsible and explosive and sometimes disruptive.

This is also a moon when the line between fantasy and reality….fades. It doesn’t just blur…it goes away entirely.  Full moons also illuminate and bring to light certain things. With this lunation, given that it involves the mutable water sign of Pisces (notable for escapism and illusion and delusion), it may reveal that things aren’t exactly as they seem.  With yourself, or with others around you.

A common theme with Pisces (especially people with their moon in Pisces) is a tendency towards escapism.  Anything to distract from reality.  Boundary issues in general  (as in, there aren’t any) and victim-like behavior also sometimes accompany Pisces energy.   Instead of dealing with the reality of a situation, there’s a tendency to turn towards substances.  Or whatever they turn to to not deal with the situation – over spending or over eating or over indulging.  Pick the poison.

Even if you aren’t a Pisces sun person or have Pisces rising (or moon, or any other significant planets in Pisces), this full moon is for all of us. And the question to ask ourselves is, what are we not dealing with. What aspect of ourselves are we trying to hide or “cover up.”  What dynamic in our lives, in our relationships, are we not facing head on.  Is there a reality we aren’t facing?

And instead of facing it…what are we doing instead? Are we running from it and masking our real fear and anxiety with drugs and alcohol?  Are we presenting a perfect, photo-shopped version of ourselves much happier, and wittier and healthier than we really are to the world via social media? Are we just simply not dealing with it – not going to work, not spending time with our kids (real time), not trying to advance ourselves in our jobs or careers, not saving for the future, not making a real effort towards healthier eating and living, not striving to live our dreams and fulfill our goals….just not dealing with it.

I know a lot of people (Pisces people and non-Pisces people alike) who, when confronted with a reality they don’t particularly like or aren’t comfortable with,  revert into children.  Like the child throwing a tantrum screaming, “I don’t wanna go to school!” the adult version is an adult just not showing up to work.   The child left to their own brilliant decision making, eating junk food all day is the adult who is drinking and using drugs and probably not eating too well either.  The child who acts out in school when they aren’t given all the attention by their friends and teachers is the adult who starts posting too many and too ridiculous social media posts for validation and attention.

This is when meditation or just sitting somewhere by yourself in quiet (that means, put the phone down and stop playing video games and scrolling through Facebook) can bring tremendous benefit.  But usually it’s the people doing the most “escaping” and caught up in the illusion of things that are the most resistant to spending some time in quiet.  Simply put, they’re afraid of what they might learn about themselves.  Easier to drink it away or just live in a fantasy.

But in the long run, it’s not. What you resist, persists.  So if you aren’t dealing with aspects of yourself, at some point, they will catch up with you, and they will win. Because all those years of not dealing with them has allowed them to grow bigger and stronger.

Pisces energy can be remarkably creative and healing and gentle and easy.  But it can also not face reality, and in some ways, be a little like Gemini in that there are two faces.  The real one behind closed doors and the masked one that is presented for the public.

Full moons bring completion and ending. This is an ideal time to stop hiding, stop running from reality, stop deluding yourself and others and step into what is real.  Step into who you really are. And if you don’t like it, if this full moon brings to light some aspects of yourself you really aren’t comfortable with….use this energy to change and to grow. It’s time…

Cosmic Correspondence – Full Moon Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse in Leo, New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aquarius

On January 31, there will be a full moon in the sign of Leo. It’s the second full moon of the month – hence, a blue moon. The first was on January 1.  It’s also a lunar eclipse.  So a lot of energy is packed with this lunation. Especially given that it’s in a fire sign.

Full moons represent the completion of a cycle. Something being “finished” or “done.” Endings. They are generally viewed as ideal times to give thanks for receiving gifts as well as releasing what doesn’t serve you.

February 2018 won’t have any full moons.  But it will see a new moon solar eclipse in the sign of Aquarius.  New moons are ideal times for new beginnings.  To start something or begin.  Aquarius is an innovative sign.  A sign about “new ways of doing things.”   They are also community oriented.  As an air sign, it’s a communicative intellectual energy as well.

So the next few weeks are going to full of a lot of shifting energy, that’s for certain.  What you want to release, release. And what you want to begin, begin.  All the planets are moving direct until March 8.  Good energy to use to DO and CREATE and BEGIN.  Or to at least be open to the new beginnings the universe may have in store for you…

Cosmic Correspondence – Three Moons and All Planets Direct

January 2018 is starting off with a lot of energy. Lunar energy, specifically.  On January 1, there will be a full moon at 11 degrees of Cancer.  We have the beginning of a new year. And with this full moon, the end of  a cycle. That dynamic coupled with the polarity between Cancer (emotional, sensitive, family oriented)  and Capricorn (work horse, responsible, grounded),  January 1 may feel a little…off.  But as with all things – it will pass.  It’s a good day to give thanks for the completion of a cycle. A lunar cycle as well as a year that has just passed. And then be open to the new year ahead.

Then on January 2, Uranus will go direct.  This will mark a period of about 8 weeks or so when all planets are direct. From January 2 until March 8, nothing will be retrograde. Whatever you have wanted to begin, or look into…this is the green light from the universe.  New Year’s Resolutions…you won’t have the stars to blame for not following through.   We get this period of a few weeks of everything moving direct every year. It’s not a time to gloss over. Take advantage of that energy moving you forward.

There’s a new moon in the middle of the month, and it is also involving Uranus and Mars. Surprising events may take place. New moons are also a time to start things – to begin. So it may be just the surprise you need to encourage you to move something forward.

The month is bookended by another full moon. This one is at 11 degrees of Leo.  And it’s a lunar eclipse.  Eclipses end things, more so than with an ordinary full moon.  Leo is a different energy than Cancer.  A lot more dynamic and rushing in to get things done. It’s as if the first month of this new year is almost forcing us to take a look at what we need to let go of in order to really move forward. And if we do it on our own, it will be a lot easier than if we wait for the universe to do it for us. So be sure to use that first full moon to release and let go. The full moon in Leo may be a little more aggressive with things.

The start of a new year or a new lunar cycle (with a new moon) is an ideal time to work on a manifestation board.  You cut out words or images that you want for yourself that year or in the lunar period.  The idea is that you put it  in a place that you will see every day and just by looking at the pictures and the words, the ideas get put in your head. The same way advertising in magazines or billboards or TV ads work.  The manifestation board can focus on one specific area (let’s say money or career) or everything and anything you want for yourself in any area.  After the year has passed or the lunar cycle, look back at the board and see how many of those things actually came into you life. You may be surprised.

I hope this new year is full of blessings and miracles for all of us.  And the cosmic push to move forward with our lives.

Cosmic Correspondence – Full Moon in Gemini

The last full moon of 2017 is on December 3. A full moon in Gemini.  Full moons are a good time to release and let go.  They represent the culmination of a cycle.  This is a good time to let go of what you don’t want to carry into 2018.  This time of year is naturally a time of reflection – on what has been and on what we hope for and look forward to.  Use this energy to cast off what doesn’t serve you, so you can move into 2018 free of heaviness.

Mercury also goes retrograde today.  Mercury is Gemini’s ruling planet, so there’s a little conflict with this transit. Mercury retrograde always speaks to some conflict. Having said that, given that it is happening along with the last full moon of the year, it’s an even better time to “re” in your life. Review, revise, re-do (what you can, if you can).  This is also a particularly good time to do this because when Mercury goes direct, it will be when Saturn starts his transit through Capricorn.  A new Saturn cycle for all of us.

One simple way to “release” what you want to let go of is to flush it.  Write down on a piece (or several pieces) of toilet paper what you want to “flush away.”  Attitudes, people, things.  Be sure to also write down that you wish them well – you don’t want any bad energy flowing.  The idea is to release with love and in peace.  Examples can be an old relationship or person you need to be freed from, literal weigh you want to lose (5 pounds, etc), feelings of lack or fear or worries (worrying about money or not having enough)…flush it away.  Let it go. This is an easy release technique you can use at any time. For anything. But it’s particularly useful during full moons.

You have to release and let go of all that weight in order to freely move forward. If it drags you down, if it doesn’t serve your higher good, if it brings you worry and frustration and a lack of peace…let it go.

Feng Shui Love – Full Moon in Taurus

These two things do go together, I promise.  I was going to write just on ways to decorate your feng shui love corner/section in your house or bedroom. And then I realized we have a full moon coming up on November 4 in the sign of Taurus.  The earth sign of Taurus is ruled by Venus, which is all about love and romance and luxury and money.   So now would be a good time to focus on your love corner/section of your house or bedroom.  Feng shui is an easy (and fun) way to usher in the energy you want to the areas of your life that you are looking to expand.

I have some rose quartz crystals (one in the shape of a heart), a garnet, a large red glass heart, and I always have a small vase with flowers there.  I’ll burn some incense there at times, too. November 4 would be an ideal time to do that.  This full moon is focused around value. What we value in a general sense in our lives. With our possessions or things, but also within our relationships. Not just with other people, but with ourselves.  And of course, relationships are highlighted because Venus is the ruler of Taurus (and Libra as well).

All full moons are about a culmination of a cycle.  So the ending of a cycle.  It’s a good time to release and to let go of things (people, ideas, habits) that are no longer serving you.  It’s also a good time to give thanks for all that you have.  Generally speaking, I think moon cycles are just a good time to focus on what that particular moon is trying to get us to pay attention to. In this case, value.  And the value we place on relationships, on the people we are in relationship with (any type of relationship), and with ourselves.

If nothing else, try to go outside and just whisper a few words of thanks.  Thank you for all that I have and all that is with me, and thank you for all the wonderful things that are on their way to me that I don’t even know about…

Cosmic Correspondence – Full Moon in Capricorn

There’s a Full Moon at 17 degrees of Capricorn today.  And the word intense doesn’t do it justice.  It’s not only intense because of the opposing energies of Capricorn and Cancer (where the Sun is currently), but also because the moon and Pluto are opposite the sun and Mars.  This will likely affect one or some relationships in your life. Or possibly your environment.

Issues of control, manipulation, physical aggression, intimidation may present with this particular configuration.   Sun opposing Pluto can bring destruction or the break-down of something.  Pluto is all about death and rebirth.  So something falling away to rebuild. It reminds me of The Tower card in tarot.

Mars opposing Pluto can also suggest issues around aggression.  Given that Mars is about aggression, war, willpower, competition, those themes may present in your life in some way within the next few days.

The energy of a full or new moon can be felt 2-3 days before and after it is exact. So this energy may be felt for a few more days.  And it’s not suggesting you will be the victim of violence or aggression…but you may feel this energy around you.  An energy of tension. An energy of a ticking time bomb with a particular person or within a relationship.

Cancer is trying to ease this tension as best it can. But there’s a lot to deal with.  Sensitive and emotional, our reactions may tend toward bouts of crying.

This Full Moon is going to affect Capricorn people the most. If you have Capricorn as your sun sign, moon sign or rising/ascendant sign….be mindful of this energy.  The other earth signs (Virgo and Taurus) could also feel this a bit as well.  Capricorn people are also advised to pay attention to this energy and what it reveals for you because Saturn will transit your sign starting this December (2017) and will stay with you for about two and a half years.  A time of often massive shift and change, responsibility, restriction and growing up.  It’s not fun when you’re going through it, but if you learn the lessons Saturn is trying to teach you, you will emerge from it more strong and wise than you thought possible.

Full Moons are a time of completion. And also a time to let go of what no longer serves you.  Give thanks for what has come to fruition during this past moon cycle, and don’t be afraid to let go of what isn’t serving you in your life. Write down what you’d like removed from your life or what you’d like to be released from, and speak it aloud outside. Ask the universe (your guides, angels, God…) to help you let go and be released from the things you ask. Ask for peaceful transition and ask for the strength you need during the shift you’re about to experience. Then give thanks for already receiving it.  Once you ask, the wheels are set in motion, and it will be given.  Expect it and it will be yours.

Cosmic Correspondence – Jupiter Direct, All Systems Go…

June 2017 promises to be pretty extraordinary in terms of astrology.  Perhaps the biggest news is that Jupiter will go direct on June 9.  Jupiter is the big planet of abundance, expansion, good fortune and good luck, growth.  He is the gift-giver of the universe. He’s been transiting Libra since September 2016 and will stay in Libra until October 2017.  He’s been retrograde for a little bit, but is going to go direct on June 9.

What does this mean? If you’re a Libra or a Libra rising (or have Libra in any prominent positions in your natal chart),  this is a tremendous boost from the universe to move forward. To progress things you’ve wanted to see progress and develop.  Goals, dreams, desires.  This is your year to make it happen. And from June until October, this energy will be especially potent.  So take advantage of it.

On June 9, there will also be a Full Moon in Sagittarius.  Jupiter rules Sagittarius.  So the energy felt on this day (and about two or three days before and after this day) will be explosive (in a good way). Sagittarius is a fire sign,  and fire signs tend to be about movement and expansion.

In June, Venus will also transit Taurus.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so she’s quite at home with Taurus.  Any time a planet is in the sign it rules, it’s a good thing.  Venus rules love and romance and luxury and money. Creature comforts.  And Taurus (and Libra) both like nice things.  Taurus is an earth sign, so Venus here is about sensual love.  Earthy, deep, lusty love.

We also have the the summer solstice on June 21. The “official” start of summer.  Whenever there is a shift with the seasons, so too with the astrological energy.  On this date, the sun will leave Gemini and enter Cancer.  We go from light, airy energy to a little more sensitive and emotional.  Gemini is an intellectual sign, all about communication. They love social scenes and mingling.  Cancer can be a little more reserved.  The crab going into its shell when it feels threatened.  Family oriented and sometimes moody.

Mercury also joins the sun in Cancer on June 21. So communication may take a little bit of an inward turn.  Meditation is recommended to look within.  But so is just spending quiet time along somewhere without distraction.

I’m excited for this month.  We just got out of a phase where there were a lot of planets in retrograde and slowly, one by one, they’ve been coming out of it. With Jupiter direct, it really is a signal to move forward with anything you’ve wanted to develop or grow. Business/career, relationships, finances, diet and health goals…now is the time.  Don’t let this pass you by.  Open your arms wide and let the universe know you’re open to receiving whatever miracles it has ready for you.

Be open to what calls you…
