New Moon in Scorpio, Stellium in Scorpio – Intensity all around

On November 18, 2017 there will be a new moon in the super intense water sign of Scorpio.   New moons are generally viewed as times to start new things. They signify fresh beginnings.  Scorpio is (hands down) the most intense sign of the zodiac.  In virtually everything they do, Scorpio people have a plan and a directive. The idea of “let’s just see what happens, let’s just see where this goes,” is not anything a Scorpio would say.

Highly intuitive, secretive, seductive, not afraid of all things dark and mysterious.   They are about depth,  and getting to what is real. They are the best person to have in your corner when you need them. The worst person you wish you never knew if you slight them or make them angry.

This new moon isn’t the only activity taking place in Scorpio. We also have the sun in Scorpio right now, as well as Venus. When you have a lot of planets in one house of a chart or in one sign, it’s considered a stellium.  Given that we have all this energy in Scorpio, today (as well as a few days before and after) are probably going to be a bit intense. At least in one area of your life.  More so if you are a Scorpio or a water sign or have a lot of Scorpio or water in your chart. Fixed signs may also be affected more (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).

One area that you  may feel this most is in the area of relationship.  Because the sun, the moon and Venus (planet of relationships and love and luxury) are there. If you want new love in your life, today may be a good time to do some manifestation work. Visualize the ideal person, and feel how wonderful they make you feel.  Whatever that means for you: safety, security, passion, friendship, companionship, fun and laughter…the list can go on and on.  If you are already in a committed relationship, this is a good time to hit the “reset” button.  If a certain aspect or area of your relationship has gone a little stale, use this energy to infuse some momentum.

I pulled a tarot card for the energy of this new moon and The High Priestess presented.   She’s my one of my favorite cards in the deck. She is an oracle – people seek her for her insight, her wisdom, her knowledge. She’s intuitive, and divinely guided.  She can also be secretive and mysterious.  This card presented upright, which is good.  Reversed, it can suggest something hidden or a secret being kept.

As a Scorpio rising, I’m looking forward to the energy of this new moon, and the doors that are soon going to open because of it.

Feng Shui Love – Full Moon in Taurus

These two things do go together, I promise.  I was going to write just on ways to decorate your feng shui love corner/section in your house or bedroom. And then I realized we have a full moon coming up on November 4 in the sign of Taurus.  The earth sign of Taurus is ruled by Venus, which is all about love and romance and luxury and money.   So now would be a good time to focus on your love corner/section of your house or bedroom.  Feng shui is an easy (and fun) way to usher in the energy you want to the areas of your life that you are looking to expand.

I have some rose quartz crystals (one in the shape of a heart), a garnet, a large red glass heart, and I always have a small vase with flowers there.  I’ll burn some incense there at times, too. November 4 would be an ideal time to do that.  This full moon is focused around value. What we value in a general sense in our lives. With our possessions or things, but also within our relationships. Not just with other people, but with ourselves.  And of course, relationships are highlighted because Venus is the ruler of Taurus (and Libra as well).

All full moons are about a culmination of a cycle.  So the ending of a cycle.  It’s a good time to release and to let go of things (people, ideas, habits) that are no longer serving you.  It’s also a good time to give thanks for all that you have.  Generally speaking, I think moon cycles are just a good time to focus on what that particular moon is trying to get us to pay attention to. In this case, value.  And the value we place on relationships, on the people we are in relationship with (any type of relationship), and with ourselves.

If nothing else, try to go outside and just whisper a few words of thanks.  Thank you for all that I have and all that is with me, and thank you for all the wonderful things that are on their way to me that I don’t even know about…

Samhain Altar

Halloween (Samhain, if you follow the Wheel of the Year) is approaching.  This day corresponds to The Day of the Dead and All Soul’s Day.  The veil between this world and the spirit world grows thinner and thinner as October 31 approaches.  Spirit phenomena is likely to be experienced the closer we get to the end of the month.  This doesn’t necessarily mean “seeing ghosts,” either.  Strange coincidences that may involve a friend of family member who has passed is a good example. You’re thinking about your friend who died in a car accident while driving, and their favorite flower was a daisy. And all of a sudden you realize the car in front of you has a license plate that says DAISY.

It’s also a nice time to set up a little altar for your loved ones and ancestors who have passed on.  Be creative, this is your altar, you can design it any way you want to.  I used some pine cones and leaves from outside (for a natural element). If I find any acorns, I’ll add those, too.  I’ll also add some crystals as we get closer to October 31.  A candle.  And the skull is a little box with a lid. I write down the names of friends and family who have passed that I want to remember and fold it and put it inside.  A lot of people will put up pictures of their loved ones.   And offer treats – a loved one’s favorite candy or cake, for example.

Light the candle on October 31 and welcome your departed in.  It’s not a scary time of the year, but a reverent one.  A time of remembrance.  And there is never an inappropriate time for gratitude or reverence.

Cosmic Correspondence – New Moon in Libra, Mercury in Scorpio, Venus in Libra

What an interesting mix of energy.  The charm and grace of Libra and the depth and intensity of Scorpio.   There’s a New Moon in Libra on October 19.  I like new moons – probably more than full moons, even if we can’t “see” them in the sky the same way. I like new beginnings. I like the fact that every month the universe gives us this opportunity to focus on some area of our lives and we get a chance to re-set.   With the new moon (new starts, beginnings, time to set an intention), in the partnership oriented sign of Libra, it’s a good time to focus on your relationships. Romantic relationships, but any kind of relationship.   It’s also a good time to start a new relationship.  This new moon opposes Uranus in Aries. So there’s this element of risk. Or something unpredictable. That’s not always a bad thing, so try to welcome anything that’s a little out of your comfort zone.

Mercury is going into Scorpio.  Jupiter went into Scorpio on October 10/11.  With Mercury here, we can expect conversations to turn deep. And possibly to things that are hidden. That could be communication coming out about yourself that was hidden, or other people.   It’s conversation we don’t normally hear about.  Deep, dark secrets, secret desires, hidden parts of ourselves.

Venus is in Libra and this is all about love.  And grace and beauty and fairness and balance. Venus rules Libra so she’s at home here.  And it really does suggest love and romance.  Especially on October 19, with the new moon in Libra.

New moons are a good time to start things as I mentioned above.  So if you’re hoping for a new relationship, put that wish and intention out there for the universe to bring somebody to you. If you’re already in a relationship but it needs a refresh, October 19 is a good time to take steps to bring in that new energy.  It’s an ideal time for love and romance and balance.

Jupiter in Scorpio – Expanding the Intensity

From October 10, 2017 until about November 8, 2018, Jupiter will be transiting the intense water sign of Scorpio.  Jupiter just left Libra where we learned balance and fairness and now delves into the depths as he begins his 13 month trip through Scorpio.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto – so it’s all about death and rebirth. The phoenix rising from the ashes.  And Scorpio is intense. There’s no way around it.  If you are a Scorpio sun, moon or rising, this will be an expansive 13 months ahead for you.  Likewise, if you have a lot of Scorpio in your chart or a lot of water in your chart, this can be beneficial.

Jupiter is the opposite of Saturn.  Jupiter is about gifts, growth, expansion, good fortune and good luck.  The “Santa Claus” of the planets.  So when he’s transiting your sign, you can expect good fortune. I sometimes refer to this transit as a “13 month cosmic goodie bag.”

But all of us are going to be experiencing this in some way. Scorpio is about all things dark and mysterious, the occult, sex, shadow. Scorpio is magnetic and powerful and driven and intense. We may see a spotlight shown on these areas in a global (collective consciousness) way. As well as in our own personal lives.

I have Scorpio as my ascendant, so I’m looking forward to this transit.  It promises to be deep and delicious.

Cosmic Correspondence – Sun and Jupiter and Mercury

The sun is in Libra.  Ahhhh…..Libra. The sign of justice and fairness (the corresponding major arcana tarot card is Justice), grace and beauty. Witty conversation and social butterflies. And also partnership and marriage, because Libra rules the seventh house.

Mercury will move into Libra later this week, too.  Diplomacy in conversation.  A sense of  talking to “work things out.”  And an overall sense of kindness.   The drawback to this may be that Libra can sometimes have a hard time making decisions. So this back-and-forth to things.  What if this, and what if that.

Jupiter is in Libra right now and this week there’s a lovely dance between Jupiter and Uranus. Romantic relationships may experience some sort of beautiful surprise.  Coming up in the next two weeks, Jupiter will leave Libra and begin his thirteen month transit in Scorpio.  So things (for all of us) may take a “deep and dark” quality.  Scorpio is the most intense sign of the zodiac, hands down. And when Jupiter (the planet of expansion and growth and development and gifts) transits the most intense sign….get ready for a spotlight to be on all things, well….deep and dark.  Death and rebirth (Pluto rules Scorpio), the occult, secrets, things hidden, sex, anything intense.

Speaking of Pluto…he goes direct this week, too.  He’s been retrograde and now will start to move forward again. So things that we have thought about changing we will now feel compelled to change.

I love this time of the year.  There’s a shift in the air that you can actually feel. Time to welcome that into your life.

Cosmic Correspondence – New Moon Solar Eclipse in Leo, Venus semi square Mercury, Mercury Retrograde, Sun in Virgo

A lot of energy going on around us. The most significant is the New Moon Solar Eclipse in the late degrees of Leo on August 21.   A fire sign, associated with self and “me.”  In contrast with Aquarius (where the south node is) who is more associated with the group and with “us.”   That opposition between self and other.

New Moons carry with them a lot of energy anyway.  Good times to start things, begin anew.  But when it is eclipsed by the moon…the energy is magnified.  It is a significant time of doors closing…so that other doors can open.  Instead of fearing that change (and that closure)…try to embrace it and welcome it.  Because on the other side of this eclipse is new, fresh energy.  The universe is always guiding us to where we need to be. Even if we can’t see it or understand it in the moment.  So be open to where you’re being led to go.

There’s a semi square between Mercury and Venus on August 20.  This can be tension and conflict with communication in relationships. A feeling of being misunderstood.  Be patient with this. Because there’s a trine between Venus and Chiron on August 23/24.  So healing is there within relationships.

Mercury is retrograde in the sign of Virgo, presently. He will go direct on September 5.  Communication problems, and delays with travel may occur now.  It’s not a good time to buy expensive things, or to sign important documents or contracts. Wait, if you can, until the second week of September.

The Sun will move from Leo into Virgo on August 22 – the day after the eclipse.   Virgo is a stable, gentle earth sign.  Known to be sometimes concerned with particulars and specifics.  So the details of our lives (day-to-day details, or details on a larger scale) may become things we are focused on. Not necessary a bad thing.  With the shift that the eclipse is bringing, it may be a good idea to spend some time working through the finer points of our lives.

A lot of shift…a lot of change. There’s usually a tendency to fear change. We sometimes associated change with giving up something. Losing something.  But that’s not always the case. And sometimes, change can bring things to us. Give us things.  The universe is encouraging us all to grow and shift and the energy with the eclipse promises to do that. For all of us, in some area of our lives.

The Space Between Eclipses – August 2017

We are currently in a space between eclipses. August 2017 will see two. We say a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius on August 7/8. And we’re going to see a New Moon Solar Eclipse in the late degrees of Leo on August 21/22.

Full Moons are a completion of a cycle. They complete things. Culmination, accomplishment.   New Moons are a good time to start a cycle.  To begin things.  The space between….well, it’s sometimes referred to as a portal.  This can be a portal to a heightened sense of spirituality. It can also be (speaking honestly) a time of general weirdness. A lot of shifting energy. Full Moons and New Moons carry a lot of energy with them anyway. Add to that eclipse energy and they’re like Full and New moons on steroids.

So be gentle with yourself during this time.  Expect there to be a lot of shift and transformation.  And as with most shift and transformation, it may not be comfortable. That’s okay. We are all being affected by this astrology.  Best to accept it and be open to go where the universe guides you.  If some doors need to close, let them close. If it’s time to start a new chapter or turn the page…welcome that opportunity.

It’s all about growth. And growth comes with resistance and sometimes pressure and struggle.  But it’s growth that propels us forward and helps us to be the best version of ourselves we can be. That’s nothing to shy away from.  Welcome it.

Llamas – A Harvest Festival

July 31/August 1 marks the celebration of Lammas.  If you follow the Wheel of the Year, it’s a festival that marks the first harvest.  It also has some roots in the Christian faith – people would attend mass and put loaves of bread on the altar.

This is when we can see some “fruits of the harvest.” Certain fruits and vegetables are in season and ready to be picked and enjoyed. For me, it makes the middle of summer, and the reminder that autumn is on its way.

Traditional ways of celebrating this day are to make corn dollies (from corn husk) and for baking bread.   Other, perhaps less common ways to celebrate this day, are to simply give thanks for the harvest in your own life.  All that you have and all that has been given to you.  And all the things that are on their way…

Cosmic Correspondence – Full Moon in Capricorn

There’s a Full Moon at 17 degrees of Capricorn today.  And the word intense doesn’t do it justice.  It’s not only intense because of the opposing energies of Capricorn and Cancer (where the Sun is currently), but also because the moon and Pluto are opposite the sun and Mars.  This will likely affect one or some relationships in your life. Or possibly your environment.

Issues of control, manipulation, physical aggression, intimidation may present with this particular configuration.   Sun opposing Pluto can bring destruction or the break-down of something.  Pluto is all about death and rebirth.  So something falling away to rebuild. It reminds me of The Tower card in tarot.

Mars opposing Pluto can also suggest issues around aggression.  Given that Mars is about aggression, war, willpower, competition, those themes may present in your life in some way within the next few days.

The energy of a full or new moon can be felt 2-3 days before and after it is exact. So this energy may be felt for a few more days.  And it’s not suggesting you will be the victim of violence or aggression…but you may feel this energy around you.  An energy of tension. An energy of a ticking time bomb with a particular person or within a relationship.

Cancer is trying to ease this tension as best it can. But there’s a lot to deal with.  Sensitive and emotional, our reactions may tend toward bouts of crying.

This Full Moon is going to affect Capricorn people the most. If you have Capricorn as your sun sign, moon sign or rising/ascendant sign….be mindful of this energy.  The other earth signs (Virgo and Taurus) could also feel this a bit as well.  Capricorn people are also advised to pay attention to this energy and what it reveals for you because Saturn will transit your sign starting this December (2017) and will stay with you for about two and a half years.  A time of often massive shift and change, responsibility, restriction and growing up.  It’s not fun when you’re going through it, but if you learn the lessons Saturn is trying to teach you, you will emerge from it more strong and wise than you thought possible.

Full Moons are a time of completion. And also a time to let go of what no longer serves you.  Give thanks for what has come to fruition during this past moon cycle, and don’t be afraid to let go of what isn’t serving you in your life. Write down what you’d like removed from your life or what you’d like to be released from, and speak it aloud outside. Ask the universe (your guides, angels, God…) to help you let go and be released from the things you ask. Ask for peaceful transition and ask for the strength you need during the shift you’re about to experience. Then give thanks for already receiving it.  Once you ask, the wheels are set in motion, and it will be given.  Expect it and it will be yours.
