Sometimes referred to as “the merchant’s stone” or “the gambler’s stone,” this is a stone of good luck and prosperity. Specifically, in terms of finances. It’s a yellow stone that can be found in almost any witchy store and it’s usually inexpensive. Around $1-2 per rough or tumbled (smooth) stone. It’s also easy to find in jewelry.
This stone corresponds to the solar plexus chakra, the energy center (wheel) located in your stomach/mid section. In your gut. It speaks to your will, your character, your sense of self. Who you are and what you are about.
Some ways to use Citrine…
- Wear or carry it with you if you want to bring money towards you. You can keep it in your pocket, or put a small chip in your wallet or coin purse, briefcase, one of your office desk drawers. Or in the form of jewelry.
- I place a Citrine and an Amethyst on my laptop – where I write my blogs and where I write up readings I do for my Etsy store…as a way to encourage prosperity. And the combination of Citrine (business success) and Amethyst (opening the third eye and crown chakras and encouraging intuition) makes sense.
- Citrine plays well with other stones. Some good combinations are Citrine and Amethyst, Citrine and Carnelian, Citrine and Garnet, Citrine and (Clear) Quartz, Citrine and Green Adventurine. So wearing these combinations in the form of jewelry or carrying these stones in these combinations can also encourage wealth, and abundance of prosperity to come your way.
- Keep a small Citrine cluster (these can be inexpensive as well, depending on size) on your desk or where you do business/work. It encourages more clients/customers.
- If you gamble, take (or wear) some citrine with you. Or wear it when you go buy a lottery ticket.
- You can meditate with Citrine if you’re trying to gain more insight into your character. Finding that personal inner power and inner strength. You can rest it on your stomach (where your solar plexus is) or just hold it in your hand.
- I (personally) think this stone is related to the Strength card in the traditional tarot. Some people use tarot cards as a focal point for meditation or for spell work. You may want to incorporate a piece or two of Citrine when working with the Strength card or with other cards if that resonates with you. The Sun card is another tarot card that Citrine would work nicely with.
- If you have a prosperity altar in your home or in your witch room (or meditation space) or in your office, place a few pieces of citrine there.
- If you follow Feng Shui, find the direction that corresponds to wealth/prosperity and place a piece or two of Citrine in that corner or area.
- I also think this stone is connected to Leo. Leo is ruled by the sun, and Citrine is often linked to the sun, if for no other reason, that it’s a bright yellow that encourages abundance of good. So if you are a Leo, or if you work with the sun and moon phases and signs in astrology, you may want to think about incorporating Citrine in your practice as well.
Citrine is a very versatile stone and is easy to work with. It encourages happiness and harmony, and good fortune. A wealth of possibilities, indeed…
Be open to what calls you…
